What started out as a blog to chronicle my time as an adventure traveler has now pivoted into something bigger and more profound. In July of 2012 I will be driving from London England to Ulan Baatar Mongolia as part of the 2012 Mongol Rally. Along the way I will be raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association and hopefully setting the Mongol Rally record for money donated. Now, the basics:

Who: Me and only me. The rally is typically done in teams of 2-5 but since I am a true adventurist, I will be doing the entire 10,000+ mile journey by myself.

What: The 2012 Mongol Rally described as “the greatest adventure in the world”. The race starts in England and ends 5-8 weeks later in Mongolia. Racers are allowed to pick any route they want from England to Mongolia.

When: July 13th to August 24th

Where: My Route will most likely take me from England through the mountains of France, Switzerland, and Austria before heading down through the Balturkey into Turkey, across Iran, and then up through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakastan, Krygystan, Russia, and finally Mongolia.

Why: To raise money for charity. The first $1000 will go to the official Mongol Rally charity: Lotus Children’s Centre Chariatable Trust while the additional money will go towards my primary charity: The Alzheimer’s Association. My goal is to shatter the previous record for money raised by a team ($88,000) while bringing Alzheimer’s awareness to the developing world.

How: By driving a car across the world… By myself. Did I mention that by Mongol Rally Race Rules the car has to be and cannot have an engine larger than 1.2 liters!?!?
